When Should Your Baby Start Swimming Lessons?
As early as 3 months! We recommend enrolling your baby in swimming lessons around 3-months old. Introducing your child to water a young age will help them feel comfortable around water for life. Our lessons will also help you ensure your baby’s first introduction to water is incredibly positive and will teach you techniques for promoting water safety and water confidence.
Our Survival Week will teach your baby how to turn over and float on their back if they fall into the water and swim towards the wall. Studies have shown that participation in formal swimming lessons was associated with an 88% reduction in the risk of drowning in the 1- to 4-year-old children.
There are also health benefits for introducing babies to swimming. Swimming will help your baby regulate their sleep and eating schedule, it can also help your baby with digestion, as moving through the water can help loosen up their intestinal track. On top of the physical health benefits, swimming also helps your baby develop motor skills. The games they play in the pool will help with skills like grabbing and picking up objects, as well as moving their body in a new way.
